The Bears and former Chargers tight end Gerald Everett have agreed to terms on a 2-year, $12 million deal.
Just a few weeks before the Bears are expected to bring in a new quarterback, likely Caleb Williams, they add a veteran tight end into the mix.
While this may be a weird move due to the Bears already having Cole Kmet, new offensive coordinator Shane Waldron utilizes a lot of 12 and 13-personnel, meaning we will see both Kmet and Everett on the field together this upcoming season.
Everett has already spent seven seasons in the NFL, including one with Waldron and the Seahawks in 2021, where he ended with 48 receptions with 478 yards and four touchdowns.
The 29-year-old Everett has spent the last two years with the Chargers. He previously spent one season with the Seahawks and four with the Rams.
In 2023, Everett caught 51 passes for 411 yards and three touchdowns.
