The Bears’ fourth free agent signing came from the land up north, as they agreed to terms on a 2-year, $4.51 million deal with former Packers safety Jonathan Owens.
Owens comes into Chicago to play somewhat of a swing safety role behind Jaquan Brisker and Kevin Byard.
Owens played in all 17 games for the Packers in 2023, after four seasons with the Houston Texans.
Owens scored his first touchdown against the Detroit Lions off of a fumble recovery. He registered a total of nine tackles in two games against the Bears last season.
Bringing Owens into an already talented secondary is massive when it comes to preserving depth.
The signing of Jonathan Owens likely signals the end of Elijah Hicks’ time with the Bears.
