Bears Trade QB Justin Fields To Pittsburgh

Well, the Bears have come to a verdict on the future of quarterback Justin Fields.

The Bears are sending Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for a conditional 2025 sixth-round pick that could become a fourth-round pick if Fields plays 51% of the snaps for the Steelers.

Pittsburgh has made a flurry of moves at quarterback this offseason, starting with releasing Mitch Trubisky, signing Russell Wilson, trading Kenny Pickett, and finally adding Justin Fields.

Fields just finished his third season with the Bears and will join a quarterback room headlined by a veteran in Russell Wilson. While Fields is not expected to compete with Wilson for the starting job, sitting behind a proven quarterback is best for his career.

Ryan Poles said he wanted to do right by Justin and in the end, that’s exactly what happened.

On the Bears’ side of things, they head into the 2024 NFL Draft with the first overall selection due to the 2023 trade that gave the Panthers Bryce Young. That trade included the Bears sending the first overall pick to Carolina in exchange for numerous draft picks, including the Panthers' 2024 first-rounder, and wide receiver DJ Moore.

After trading Justin Fields, the expectation is that they take USC’s Caleb Williams on April 25th.

Justin Fields’ tenure with the Chicago Bears was rocky, to say the least. In three seasons with the Bears, Fields finished with 6,674 yards, 40 touchdowns, and 30 interceptions. On the ground, Justin Fields proved to be a difference-maker as he rushed for over 1,000 yards in 2022 and 2,220 career yards with 14 trips to the end zone.

New Bears offensive coordinator Shane Waldron will be looking for the perfect quarterback that fits his system.

It’s a new era in Chicago…
