2. Oklahoma vs Texas 2021

3. USC vs Cal 2022

4. USC vs Washington 2023

5. USC vs UCLA 2023

Strengths:

  • Elite ability in the quick game, arguably one of the best we’ve seen in recent memory

  • His play is very Mahomes-esque when moving around in the pocket and using various arm slots to make throws at different levels.

  • Williams is not afraid to attack the middle of the field.

  • He can make plays with his legs.

  • Williams possesses elite accuracy on overall throws, including excellent accuracy on quick-timing plays to backs and receivers, placing the ball slightly in front to lead receivers to potential yardage after the catch.

  • Williams moves very effectively and can make tough throws while on the run. He’s at his best on bootlegs, showing zip and accuracy on those throws.

Weaknesses:

  • Williams doesn’t possess the ideal size for a QB and could be a heightened injury risk due to the way he plays.

  • Due to a very simple offense in college, he would play his best in a pro-style offense.

  • No experience playing under center while at USC and Oklahoma, which could be a problem early on.

  • Williams will need to work on mechanics and footwork, but that is the case with most rookie QBs.

Summary:

It's hard to find any flaws in his tape that will be hard to clean up. While still being compared to the likes of Patrick Mahomes, John Elway, and Andrew Luck, his lack of height will be something that will be brought up when he measures at the combine. We have seen our fair share of smaller QBs have successful careers in the pros.

Caleb Williams is undoubtedly the best player in all of college football over the last few seasons and has an incredible combination of athletic skills and arm talent that you rarely see. He's also a player who has produced at an elite level with Lincoln Riley at both Oklahoma and USC while showing the ability to handle being a highly touted player while only being a few years removed from high school.
