Strengths:

  • Daniels put up an otherworldly 2023 campaign and led the NCAA in nearly every notable statistical category for a QB.

  • Daniels is the most athletic QB in this class and displays speed that we don’t see often in QBs.

  • Daniels is good at manipulating second and third-level defenders.

  • Shows great ability to move around in the pocket while evading various forms of pressure and finds holes to achieve huge gains on the ground.

  • Great ability when throwing on the run, keeping his eyes locked on his targets down the field, and completing passes even while throwing across his body.

  • Possesses elite arm strength and can hit targets at all three levels.

  • Smooth footwork, tight throwing motion, and has a consistent dropback.

  • Fits the mold for what you want in a dual-threat QB.

  • Sets up the passing game with his legs.

Weaknesses:

  • Daniels has struggled to consistently operate from the pocket, mostly when it comes to making throws across all field levels.

  • While his throwing motion is tight and compact, it does become inconsistent at times which affects his timing and accuracy.

  • Daniels has issues when it comes to connecting his throwing motion with his lower body, leading to inconsistent placement and reduced arm strength.

  • Takes way too many unnecessary hits as he likes to square up with defenders, needs to learn how to give himself up.

Summary:

Jayden Daniels' 2023 season is full of the traits that we see NFL scouts salivate over in a dual-threat quarterback. His mobility and arm are tailor-made for modern offenses, mostly when it comes to quick-pass scenarios.

Daniels’ signature game came against Florida, where he became the first player in FBS history to pass for over 350 yards and rush for another 200 in the same game. That game showed NFL teams how high his potential is.

Daniels' draft stock rose tremendously throughout the 2023 season. The combine will be massive for Daniels to display what he can do for teams at the next level.

NFL Player Comparison: Former NFL QB Robert Griffin III.

Draft Grade: Early first-round, top 10.
