Strengths:

  • Warren’s frame would have NFL offensive coordinators salivating at the opportunity to work with him.

  • Former high school QB is shown in his film; understands how to read a defense and where to sit in his routes against zone defenses. Also, can be used as a gadget guy in Wildcat.

  • Nightmare to stop in the red zone; basketball background is shown when boxing out defensive backs.

  • Reliable hands; won’t let the ball hit the ground often when thrown his way.

  • Does everything he can to put his team in a position to win.

  • While not a refined blocker, his strength and work ethic are there to develop into a solid blocker.

  • Bounces off tacklers and stays upright once he has the ball in his hands.

Weaknesses:

  • Often just goes through the motions on plays where he won’t be getting the ball.

  • Blocking technique needs refining.

  • Not a creative route runner.

  • Knocked off his route at times.

Summary:

Warren will translate into an inline tight end, with a ton of receiving upside. Having been a high school quarterback, Warren understands how to read a defense, helping him to know where the soft spots in the defense are. Ideally, he is best suited in a spread or West Coast offense, but he can be a difference maker in any offense he gets drafted into.
